Surgery...

Last week we took Jaden to Pensacola to a pediatric ENT to do an exploratory surgery (airway exam). He did so well. The surgery was a pretty simple procedure but I was really worried about the general anesthisia. In the waiting room they gave him some "happy juice" to prepare him to go back into surgery. You can tell in the next picture he was kind of out of it. It was sad but he was so cute. We were watching Shark Tales and he kept smiling and reaching out saying "come back here". The fish were apparantly swimming out of the TV. He was trying to grab them. Then he said. "Now, I'm watching two TV's." When they took him back it was so sad. I can't explain the feeling but we knew the risks and he had no idea.
Jaden woke up from the anesthisia really well. (I guess some kids go crazy). The Dr. said that he has irregular folds on his vocal cords which is what is causing his hoarse voice. They don't want to remove them because it could damage the vocal cords but with voice rest he will be able to control it. (voice rest.......ha ha ha, maybe when he is older :) ) I love Jaden's little voice! Now I can enjoy it without worrying that something might be wrong. I love you Jaden!!

I am glad everything went well. It is a very uneasy feeling when your little ones have to go through something like that. Last year we had to take Macee down to Primary Childrens in Salt Lake. She had an anyerismal (sp?) Bone cyst in her lower tibia bone where they had to go in scrape out the cyst out and do a bone graft. She was one of those kids who woke up like a bear out af anesthesia. She was sure letting the nurses have it! Glad everything is ok!

How do they suppose you will be able to control how much he rests his voice? That's interesting :) I'm glad he's okay...it sounds like he was really brave.

I can so empathize! Tyler had surgery in October (you can check my old blog posts) on both his heels... it's hard to see your baby go under! Good for you to make it through with flying colors!
